January 14th concert

On Sunday, January 14th at 4pm, a memorial celebration for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will take place at the Washington National Cathedral. It will commemorate Dr. King's last Sunday sermon, which was given from the pulpit of the cathedral 50 years ago (March 31, 1968). The event will be sponsored by Advancement Project, Howard University, the Episcopal Church, and Washington National Cathedral.

The music will be provided by Howard University Concert Choir, Washington Performing Arts' the Children of the Gospel, and the Cathedral House Band. Dr. Mickey Thomas Terry will play the organ prelude and will provide some organ accompaniment. Doors open at 3:30pm. The prelude to the event begins at 3:45pm. The program will also feature contemporary dance and movement performances. Admission is free. The public is cordially invited to attend.
